SO ANOTHER IMPORTANT SITE:

MEDICAID INFORMATION!

According to this site "Who’s eligible for Medicaid?

You may qualify for free or low-cost health care through Medicaid based on your income and family size. Eligibility rules differ among states.

In all states, Medicaid gives health coverage to some individuals and families, including children, parents, people who are pregnant, elderly people with certain incomes, and people with disabilities. Some states have expanded their Medicaid programs to cover other adults below a certain income level.

Find out if your state has expanded Medicaid coverage and what that means for you.

There are two ways you can apply for Medicaid:

Hi, I’m Lynne Campo, Disability and Accessibility Advocate. I have a passion for helping others, and I find often the best way to do that is connecting people with the resources they need, in a simple, easy to understand  way!

THOUGHT OF THE DAY🧐

So in Britain, and other places internationally, there are parent and child designated parking places. It isn’t new, and it’s quite commonplace in many areas. Here in the US we have handicap spaces, but now also have store pickup spaces, reserved for employee spaces, law officer spaces, and at a few stores pregant women spaces.

What are you thoughts on these spaces for parents and children less than twelve? Should able body adults have to park half way back in the parking lot, behind all the various designated spaces?

As a disability advocate (https://www.lynnecampo.com) I strongly believe in the need for the traditional ♿️ spaces. It is often very hard to find one.

TIP OF THE DAYAs a disability advocate I've been working to make the location of Caroline's Carts easier to find! You can all help with this by simply adding them to a Google Maps review for the store where you find them! Then they become searchable!! For instance here in my review for my local Target, I say they have two Caroline’s Carts. I like to take a photo of the carts as well, so people can see where to find them. I always add other handicapped accessibility information to all my Google Maps reviews, like are there ramps, parking spaces, and for parks, are there paved trails for wheelchairs etc. You can follow me on Google Maps if you would like. I encourage you to become a Google Local Guide and become more involved in improving handicapped accessibility information on Maps! But PLEASE BE SURE TO PUT IN YOUR REVIEW WHEN YOU FIND A CAROLINE’S CART!
Then just search carolines cart near me!

TIP OF THE DAY!

I have a new list available on Google Maps that lists some important resources if you are moving to the Benton County area in Arkansas. If anyone would like information on becoming a Google Local Guide and making lists like these for your area please email me at lynnecampo.com@gmail.com The list Ihave prepared can be found on my profile on Google Maps, (where you can follow me), at RESOURCES IN BENTON COUNTY . It lists things such as the location of the office to get Medicaid, SNAP, Social Security, the DMV, car insurance, an animal hospital, a hotel, the UPS store, and even where to shop for your new local sports team!

TIP OF THE DAY!

Do you know where to access benefits online your state? Here in Arkansas it is at Access Arkansas   This is where you apply for both Medicaid and Snap (foodstamps). If you need to apply for Federal Disabiliy it is the same for every state, https://www.ssa.gov (My Social Security)

TIP OF THE DAY!

While each state has different laws, all must follow ADA requirements. If your state like mine, Arkansas, requires an official letter for your Emergency Support Animal, (ESA) you can go to whatever doctor treats you for any issue relating to your mental health. Does your regular PCP prescribe your antidpressent or Xanex? Then they can write a letter, on their letterhead, and date it, because it's only good for a year, then they'll have to write another one. They don't have to break HIPPA laws and discus your diagnosis, merely state that the aninal you have is an Emotional Support Animal and is nessessary to help provide comfort to you.

TIP OF THE DAY!

Service Animals and Emotional Support Animals are two very different things.First,a Service animal must be a dog, and in very special circumstances, a miniture horse may be allowed. They must be trained to do a specific task, related to their handlers (the disabled person) disability. YOU CAN TRAIN YOUR OWN SERVICE DOG.

Emotional Support Animals can be any DOMESTICATED animal that DOESN'T CAUSE A NUISANCE.

Please read my article "Accessibility ♿️: Adaptive/Assistive Tools - Service Animals & Emotional Support Animals" for more  in-depth information on Service Animals and Emotional Support Animals (ESA) and the ADA &HUD laws that protect you. Here is the LINK

TARGET IS DOING THEIR PART WITH CAROLINE'S CARTS!

‼️UPDATE MARCH 2022‼️

I was so happy to see so many Caroline's Carts at Target in Rogers, Arkansas, readily available for use. These modified shopping carts were developed by Drew Ann Long mother of Caroline, when she recognized through personal experience, the need for larger child/adult sized carts to enable caretakers to shop.

Here are some articles I've written on Accesibily topics you may find interesting and helpful:

Eureka Springs, Arkansas is a beautiful place to visit! Especially in the fall when the leaves are turning, or during the holidays with all the beautiful lights and decorations.  One word of caution, as a disability advocate:  a whole it is not handicap accessible.  Many of the  buildings are Victorian era and preserved, so they do not have elevators or ramps, just high steep staircases. Many are built into the side of a mountain, so the same is true. The sidewalks in front of the shops are not smooth and make it difficult for wheelchair access. Car gazing is awesome, visiting Thorncrown church is possible.  There is handicap accessible parking at Thorncrown chapel, but a stone walkway approach, that depepend on your wheelchair skills/type as to lebel of difficulty.  Eureka Springs is still worth visiting, even if you just drive through with your car and go to some lower level places. There is a paid parking lot that is handicap accessible (you pay with an app on your phone)and a shuttle that will take you on a tour of the town. I don’t know if that is wheelchair accessible, it wasn’t running the day we went.  I did see a trolley at the Christ of The Ozarks thst appeared to go to other attractions that did not appear to have wherlchair access. I would call ahead first. The tours at Christ Of The Ozarks are NOT handicap accessible, and require you to get of the shuttle and walk frequently. There is gravel making it impossible to roll a wheelchair. I hope this helps you, or someone you know who is differently abled!❤️ Feel free to email me with any question about this or for any other information here: EMAIL ME!
